C-SPAN: Treasury Department 2012 Budget in the House Committee Appropriations | State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Hearing

Last night I watched the Treasury Department 2012 Budget in the House Committee Appropriations | State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Hearing C-SPAN session, on TV. The program description is shown next:

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said U.S. national security and influence was at stake as Congress considered his agency’s budget request for international programs. The total is $3.4 billion, a 58% increase over 2010 levels.

I don’t always agree with the perspective of Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner. I do think he is a very intelligent and articulate person. Over the last year I watched him in C-SPAN sessions field really tough questions from both sides of the political aisle. I admire him for those qualities.

I wasn’t aware how much money is in the President’s budget for helping other nations with environmental programs. I hope the U.S. House takes a close look at those expenditures with an eye towards cutting them.
