Last night I watched the C-SPAN: Innovation and the Space Race session, by with Burt Rutan on TV. The program description is shown next:
Burt Rutan talked about the history of manned spaceflight and contrasted the contemporary space program with the pioneering days of space travel. Mr. Rutan designed “SpaceShipOne,” which launched the era of commercial space travel, and the Voyager aircraft that in 1986 became the first airplane to fly non-stop around the world without refueling. This session lasted 1 hour and 24 minutes.
Burt spoke about inspiration and history of manned space flight. He emphasizes research in science and engineering as a cornerstone of progress.
If you are interested in science and engineering and why research is important, watch this presentation.
