Labor Day Holiday 2009

The above image is, First Light Shadow

Today's song is One Less Bell To Answer, by The 5th Dimension, released in 1969.

Part of this Labor Day holiday weekend was spent working on some plumbing repairs around the house. Specifically, I worked on replacing the water valves on two toilets. My wife, Sherry helped me with the tasks.

Fortunately I have all the tools I need for most auto and home repairs. The great majority of these tools are about 35 years old. I purchased those tools so I could work on my cars and our apartment as the need arose. Some tools are from Sherry's Dad who gave them to me before he passed away. Over the years the house projects in the three different homes we've lived in, required their usage.

I must give credit to the late Harry Swidler, who took the time when I was 13 years old to teach me about tools. He showed me why and how the proper tool makes a job easier. I've passed his teachings on to others over the years since, including to my daughter.

Well, the Summer is almost over now. A few more weeks and it will be officially Autumn. The seasons and the years seem to pass more quickly as I get older. I continue to spend the time wisely as best I can. I hope your summer was a good one as it was for me.

My Australian Facebook friend, Sophia, referenced this moving short film, Father and Daughter on her Wall. Australians celebrated Father's Day on September 5th this year.

Today is the 93rd anniversary of my late Mother's birth.

As part of Newbound Inc's business needs, I'm learning about Tableau. Currently it's only works on Windows. Perhaps the developers will create a MacOS X version, utilizing the powerful capabilities of that platform. If they did, I have a number of cool suggestions for them, but those ideas will wait while it remains a Windows only product.

My friend, Bob, sent me this article stating the study wasn't really needed. ;-)

It's good to see Americans looking out for their own security against terrorists. Self-defense takes many forms....
