Confessions Are Free

The above image, View From Tuzigoot is also available as a Desktop Background

Today's song is Midnight Confessions by The Grass Roots, released in 1968.

I came across the Time Magazine article, When Confession Takes Place Online and I'm all for it. We Americans are so caught up with the cultural imposition of keeping things to ourselves, that I welcome every encouraging opportunity for people to learn from the life experiences of others. Only by increased sharing of our own life experiences in ways that are comfortable for us, can we, in my humble opinion, improve ourselves and those we confide in as well. Below is a quote from the article:

"Adherents say that despite the inevitable voyeurs, exhibitionists and fabricators drawn to the sites, online confessions have a fundamental appeal because they assure people that they are not alone in their misery or quirkiness, and for the confessor, the anonymous unburdening can be a first step toward facing up to a painful event."

Now just to be clear about my opinion, I don't advocate going through life complaining about fate or blaming others for misfortunes. That's already ingrained in our society as a reaction to the imposition of social pressure to "keep things to ourselves".

Instead, my attitude is to first determine how we contributed to our fate and misfortune so that we can understand the truth of the situation. When that has been validated within us, a lesson can be learned and it is that lesson that should be shared with those we trust. That's when people will discover how much and to the greater extent that we all experience so much in-common as we travel our path through life.

I've learned much by divulging details of my life experiences and being a trusted listener to deep and detailed life experiences from others. Gossip has no place in that type of conversation. Spreading confidential information is out-of-bounds too.

Break out of the self-imposed handcuffs that society made you feel you need to wear throughout life. You hold the key to unlocking yourself, thereby helping others in the process.

If you need to confess, it is probably best do so. I suggest you also confess to any persons you offended and remove the soul debts you incurred. You may discover they forgave your transgressions against them long ago, making the circle complete...

I added a link to, "Love Can Make You Happy" on the Don's YouTube Picks page.

My friend, Dimitris P. Magemeneas (760) 752-9733, held a Grand Opening on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at his Edward Jones office at 157 N. Twin Oaks Valley Road, #130, San Marcos, CA 92069. Below is a picture of that event.
