I Am A Fan Of, This Old House PBS TV Series

The above image is Sphere Of Influence

Today's song is This Ole House by Rosemary Clooney, released in 1954.

I've been watching the This Old House PBS series since the early 1980's. I was impressed with the workmanship and planning of the team and homeowners right away. I learn something new on every project. As a project manager, I enjoy the analytical aspects of the projects and how new solutions are arrived at when obstacles appear.

Everyone on the team is well suited for their particular tasks. My favorite person is, Tom Silva. I would have loved to have worked for Tom as a young man. He takes a very serious approach to his work, yet takes the time to teach and explain why he is implementing a particular solution. He is the epitome of a mentor.

When the Ask This Old House series started, I knew it was a winner. I appreciate all the tips and expertise being taught.

Another favorite of the team is The New Yankee Workshop, featuring Master Carpenter, Norm Abram. He makes all his projects look easy and encourages those who love to work with wood.

I'm happy to have been faithful follower of those three series. Those masters in their crafts are great examples for all who aspire to create and teach.

Today I say thank you to the veterans who served my nation throughout its history. You helped defend and fight for my freedom.

The The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall is twenty-five years old this year. Older than many of the people's names that are listed on that wall when they died or went missing. Two of my high school friends names are on that wall. I have been to The Wall three times in my life.

My friend, Mark Anderson, served in Vietnam. He is interviewed in the book, Lions of Medina about his role in the battle described in that book.

I've been to the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery and watched the changing of the guard there. All Americans should visit that place at least once in their life, in my humble opinion.
