Music Freedom At Last

The above image, Winter Memories is also available as a Desktop

Now that Sony BMG Music Entertainment has decided to stop fighting a war against consumers and instead sell their music digitally online without DRM, the music industry now moves into the 21st century. They were only eight years too late, but better late than never, right?

Today I purchased a couple MP3's using Amazon MP3 online store and spent $1.88 in the process. I purchased those two songs there because the iTunes Store didn't sell them, or in one case I would have had to purchase the entire album just to get one of the songs. I don't do that!

The Amazon MP3 downloads are pretty painless. The downloaded songs go right into my iTunes Library for later downloading to my iPod nano.

In case any industry that relies on the Internet hasn't heard, I'll repeat the status quo. You need to work with your customers the way they want you to work with them, or your previous customers will route around you! The music industry hold-outs like Sony, are just the latest companies to understand that axiom.

I look forward to better completing my digital music needs now that I can obtain most, if not all of the music I want online at inexpensive prices.

On January 1, 2008, my daughter was promoted to Director, Supply Management at her company. She started at the bottom of her company ladder ten years ago and she has worked hard to get all her promotions. She now has international responsibilities with that promotion. Mom and Dad are very proud.
