Jackie's Call To Action

The above image, Annie's Charm is also available as a Desktop

Today's song is Help Me by Joni Mitchell, released in 1974.

My friend, Jackie, is scheduled to give a speech today at the Twin Oaks Toastmasters meeting titled, Volunteering In San Diego. I know that Jackie spends a lot of time volunteering and she enjoys it very much.

I may be able to help Jackie in her latest project coming up in September that involves feeding people in nearby Escondido, California. I've spoken about my volunteer efforts previously on this site.

Helping others in the community is something many people find time to devote their energies on an occasional basis. I wish Jackie success on her efforts to stimulate others in her call to action today.

We Americans know our CIA failed to warn us prior to 9/11, here's news about the report to that effect that is now public.

But what if the CIA had known ahead of time? Would the President (either Clinton or Bush) have gone to war over the information?

We need leaders who know how to defend and attack decisively. We need leaders to ensure our safety using all available resources.

My problem with reports like this is that I doubt any new kind of response will be exercised if and when the CIA breaks another major lethal case ahead of time. We Americans pay a lot for top-notch intelligence, but we don't seem to benefit by it from the return-on-investment perspective. A certain number of Americans seem to have to die, before effective action is taken. It shouldn't be that way.

Apple laptops sales soar as Dell takes a hit. Life is like that when a paradigm shift happens. Buy a Mac and start enjoying your computer experiences.

iPhone sales could top 800,000 in this current quarter. I'm waiting until January to see what develops.

If you already have an iPhone, check out my images designed for it.

Wal-Mart has started selling DRM-free music online.

I checked out some bands I liked from my youth on that new site. I already have the songs they offered. If they don't have the oldies that iTunes doesn't, then I won't be shopping there.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time now before the hold-out music distribution companies fall in line with selling DRM-free music online for less than a buck a song.

One of my friends sent me this link about someone speaking against fundamentalist and radical Islam in Europe.

Calvera is a new dead neutron star found found relatively close to our little space in the universe. I wonder what Eli Wallach thinks of it? :-)

Hmmm, this could be interesting as an art form...
